Hydrofoiling
Hydrofoiling is a sport that I’m so in love with. For me, it’s the most liberating feeling in this world. It’s just me and the water working in unison. I can hear the whistling sound it makes as I’m continuously pumping. It brings me joy like no other. I like to describe hydrofoiling as my “happy place”, even though I know it’s not technically a physical place, but rather a spiritual and emotional one. Because of the immense amount of peace and joy I receive from it, it will forever have a piece of my heart.
Track and Field
I’m a thrower, specifically javelin! I will admit when I started the sport I thought it was going to be “easy”, but it has been anything but easy. Javelin has taught me a tremendous amount of discipline. I’ve always been very disciplined but javelin has helped make me even more so. I dedicate about 15 hours over 6 days a week to my training. I’m constantly practicing, spending time in the gym and working to improve my craft. I started the sport relatively late, only a year or so ago, but once I tried it, I loved it. I aspire to be a collegiate athlete for this sport and this is a goal that I refuse to give up on as I am improving weekly and have made tremendous improvement since I started. Hard work and commitment pays off.
Wakeboarding
I originally got into the world of watersports through wakeboarding. It was something that I picked up in 2020 and have loved since. I can do some tricks, the basics and know how to maneuver around pretty well. I’ve competed several times in different competitions and always have so much fun. I’ve had two scary accidents that ended with 15 stitches to the head and a concussion. I haven’t let that get in the way of continuing the sport I love but I did start to wakeboard less and hydrofoil more.
More Sports
As I previously commented, I’ve always been an athlete in one way or another. In my younger years, I used to do acrobatics and aerial silks. These are sports that I still appreciate and find beauty in. However, they were not fulfilling to me so I stopped, wanting to find those sports that I better connected with. In the photos of me surfing and snowboarding they show how I really love board sports. There’s nothing like them. Maybe they all have to do with my focus on balance in life. Regardless, there’s nothing like the feeling I have when I’m on a board, just me, the elements, and the board.
